About me

Lois Fasching, born in 1957, was trained as a sculptor master by Prof. Rudolf Geisler-Moroder in the sculptor's school Elbigenalp/Tyrol. Lois works freelance in Dölsach/Tyrol and mainly deals with wooden sculptures, which he works with the chainsaw. Lois Fasching is married to Mirjam from Holland. They live with the four common children at their farm in Dölsach. There is also his studio in the attic of the house.

"Art Schwedenreiter" is a joint production between Lois Fasching and the "Tiroler Landjugend", and aims to explain alpine agriculture to the work of art in the time of the "Heumaht", ie. the actors, the peasants, are artists at this time. In June 1994, a hay installation was held in front of the Parliament in Vienna on the Austrian EU Presidency and participation in the Landart-Biennial-Venice.

This was followed by the sculpture cycle of the Tyrolean Early History for the Attersee Kunsthalle, which was shown at the South Tyrol exhibition at the Schloss Tirol in 2008.

Lois then created a six-part, 230 cm high series of figures for Reinhold Messner's MMM (Messner Mountain Museum) in Bolzano.

Fountain, works for churches, e.g. the "Debanterkreuzweg", are among the tasks.

From 2010 to 2016 a cycle with 17 survival-size wooden sculptures about Henry VIII of England took place. All woodwork is cut with the chainsaw.

According to the life sized portrait of the South Tyrolean nationalist Luis Durnwalder for the Messner Mountain Museum in Bolzano, Lois Fasching worked on an altar design for the church of Debant. The inauguration celebrated bishop Manfred Scheuer, the artwork was handed over by the President of the Tyrolean Landtag Herwig van Staa.
